Bavu Blakes

Bavu Blakes is a Scholar Emcee deliberately walking through the intersection of Hip Hop, education, and spirituality. His research goals center on the various ways that the Hip Hop generation leverages its resources for today’s generation. Blakes is a national consultant for Los Angeles Unified School District, AVID, and many other clients, and he also serves as a Social and Emotional Learning and Cultural Proficiency & Inclusiveness Specialist in Austin ISD. He is also a celebrated songwriter whose studio collaborators include Grammy winners Adrian Quesada, Symbolyc One, Gary Clark, Jr., and several more. Accordingly, Austin Mayor Steve Adler proclaimed April 23, 2015, as Bavu Blakes Day to a capacity crowd at City Hall.
