Dr. Dawn Brown is a queer counseling psychologist, activist, and storyteller. She began her advocacy work in 2011 with the Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBTQ civil rights organization, and served on their Board of Governors striving to amplify the voices and needs of queer women. She continued this work while she was at the University of Illinois where she conducted LGBTQ workshops to educate faculty, staff, and police recruits on providing affirming experiences for LGBTQ individuals. Dr. Dawn also incorporates advocacy work into her clinical practice as a Veteran’s Affairs psychologist and continues to do work within the queer community to further advance equal rights. She believes that, through the power of storytelling, we can heal communities and promote connection and positive change.
