Dr. Nkemka Anyiwo is a Nigerian American scholar, artist, and youth advocate. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a joint degree in Social Work and Developmental Psychology and is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on understanding the social and cultural factors that promote the healing and empowerment of Black youth. Her work is grounded in her experiences as a youth organizer. For more than a decade, she served in several leadership roles in cultural and social justice organizations where she designed initiatives aimed to promote political awareness, cultural empowerment, education development, and community healing.
